About Lwin Moe
I am currently a Ph.D. student at York University’s Lassonde School of Engineering. As part of my Ph.D. dissertation, I have recently been working on fact checking and misinformation detection using machine learning in general, and natural language processing (NLP) in particular.
I was a software developer before doing my Ph.D. I studied computer science and linguistics at Indiana University in Bloomington, Purdue University in Fort Wayne, and Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok. My past experience includes working at Southpaw Technology Inc., the LINGUIST List, the Center for Research in Computational Linguistics (Southeast Asian Languages Archive) and teaching at the Myanmar Institute of Theology.
I enjoy working on projects that encompass mathematics, computer science and linguistics. My Master’s thesis was on the Automatic Bitext Alignment for Southeast Asian Languages. I also like music and travelling.
